Mr. Oswald J Grübel joined UBS as Group CEO in February 2009 with a wealth of almost 50 years of experience in the financial services industry. Over the course of his career, Mr. Grübel held senior positions in various areas, including in particular Securities Trading and Private Banking. After serving on various executive bodies of Credit Suisse and its subsidiaries in Switzerland and the UK since 1975, Mr. Grübel held the position of Group Chief Executive Officer of Credit Suisse Group and Credit Suisse between 2004 and 2007.

In addition to his role as UBS Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Grübel holds numerous mandates on boards of Swiss and international organizations. Amongst others, Mr. Grübel is a board member of the Swiss American Chamber of Commerce, the Institute of International Finance and the Financial Services Forum. He is also a member of the International Monetary Conference. 

Mr. Grübel was educated as a banker at Deutsche Bank, where he worked from 1961 to 1970. 

Mr. Grübel was born in November 1943 and is a German citizen.
